Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ dubbed as a catalyst for the Great Resignation

Welcome back, Queen Beyoncé! Her new single ‘Break My Soul’ dropped on June 21st. It was supposed to be out at Midnight EST, but Beyoncé surprised her fans with an early release. The track first dropped on Tidal and YouTube, 2 hours before midnight and Beyhive could not stop freaking out.

The lyric video on YouTube shows “6. Break My Soul” indicating that the song is the sixth track on her upcoming album “RENAISSANCE.”

With its house music vibe, “Break My Soul” is the perfect dance song for the Beyhive to dance to while contemplating whether to quit their jobs. That is right, Beyoncé seems to be convincing everyone to release themselves from the shackles of a 9 to 5! Ain’t that the dream?

The Great Resignation

A lot of fans are now dubbing Beyoncé and her new single ‘Break My Soul’ as the catalyst for the Great Resignation after the song dropped.

Now, I just fell in love
And I just quit my job
I’m gonna find new drive
Damn, they work me so damn hard
Work by nine/
Then off past five
And they work my nerves
That’s why I cannot sleep at night

Some say that this is Beyoncé’s commentary on the “grind culture” where everyone is expected to work themselves to their bones. This causes a collective form of burnout, especially amongst young adults. However, fans argue that despite wanting to quit their jobs, it cannot be denied that there are bills to pay, life to live, inflation to consider, and the overall downfall of the economy. And they are right, easy for Beyoncé to say to “quit your job and find a new motivation” when she is a multi-millionaire, high-compensated singer and celebrity. Still, nice of her to empathize with the working class living in a capitalist society that only favors the rich.

Beyoncé’s new single is out!

Bey is back and I’m sleepin’ real good at night
The queens in the front and the doms in the back

Bey is definitely back, and she is back with a vengeance. With her new single, she reminds us that we are Queens in our own merits, and no matter how hard time gets, it will not break our souls. It is time to release the anger, the stress, and if you can, the job.

‘Break My Soul’ is a nice bop that perfectly kicks off Beyoncé’s upcoming album. Fans even speculate that there is also a forthcoming tour that might follow the release of RENAISSANCE on July 29.

To summarize Beyhive’s sentiments on Bey’s new single: Quitting the job seems ideal, but how to pay for the album and the tour?!
