‘As Long As You Are Here’ Reigns as the 2023 Gawad Sining Short Film Winner

Heartfelt congratulations to the talented FEU Manila students behind ‘As Long As You Are Here‘ for their ‘Best Film‘ award at the 2023 Gawad Sining Short Film Festival! The awards ceremony took place at the Centennial Hall, The Manila Hotel on October 8th.

‘As Long As You Are Here’ Reigns as the 2023 Gawad Sining Short Film Festival Winner

This celebration of creative excellence proudly unveils the winning films of their short film competition. ‘Yung Hindi Sana Halata‘ and ‘Crushmate‘ then obtained the ‘Second Best Film‘ award, while ‘Boi‘ was given the ‘Third Best Film‘ award. Congratulations to the four best films!

Going back, the first winning piece is a story of a mother’s selfless sacrifice to create a special day for her child. Experience a glimpse of this remarkable work in the official film teaser, directed by Allen Pangilinan.

The director of this film received the ‘Best Screenplay‘ award. Additionally, the short movie has also won the ‘Best Cinematography‘ led by Kayla Babista, and ‘Best Editing‘ by Bam Pangilinan. Finally, the ‘Best Music‘ was awarded to Ian Quiruz.

Meanwhile, the actress and the supporting actress have also earned recognition during the awards ceremony. Isla Colanse, who portrayed Joy, won the ‘Best Actress‘ award, while Sharon Ceneta, who portrayed Nanang, received the ‘Best Supporting Actress‘ award.

Furthermore, several other short films also received different awards across different categories for this year’s Gawad Sining Short Film Festival.

Best Actor Award

  • Philip Altejos of Boi
  • Nathan Molina of Yung Hindi Sana Halata
  • Andre Miguel of The World We Left
  • Anthony Edward Arcilla of Crushmate

Best Actress Award

  • Isla Colanse of As Long As You Are Here
  • Liwayway Alarcon of Maybe Tomorrow

In the ‘Best Child Actor‘ category, Prince Nathaniel Espana received this award. Furthermore, Eiah Manjares was then awarded the ‘Best Child Actress‘ award.

Among the other short films, ‘Red Strings of Faith‘ by Christianne Marie Pahilga and Joanna Beatrice Balasta received the ‘Best Screenplay‘ award.

Katulad Mo Rin Ako‘ by Jan Christian Garcia and ‘Mabagal Kung Bumagsak Ang Mga Dahon‘ by Jeremiah Villardo both received the ‘Best Cinematography‘ award.

Moreover, they awarded the ‘Best Production Design‘ award to Ienne Junsay of ‘Si Toto Mart‘ and to Kristine Laguarda of ‘Mabagal Bumagsak Ang Mga Dahon.’

And finally, ‘Crushmate‘ claimed both the ‘People’s Choice Award‘ and the ‘Best Poster‘ award for this year’s festival.
