TECH/REVIEW: Performing Beyond Limits with the realme 14 5G

Listen, I am no stranger to laggy gameplay. I know what it feels like to die midgame because I’m attacking an enemy that’s no longer in the place I was aiming. Thankfully, the realme 14 5G is equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 5G processor, which resolves this annoying issue.
This new chipset ensures improved CPU and GPU performance for one of the smoothest gameplays I’ve ever experienced. Hopping on my favorite MOBA games, such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty Mobile, has been a pleasant experience overall.
The phone can even enable 120fps on said MOBA games, so it’s as immersive as it can get. I’ve spent a lot of time playing those 2 games in their highest graphic settings, and I’ve encountered no issues, definitely no lagging throughout the gameplay.
Another factor that’s affecting this powerful performance is the phone’s 12GB of RAM (with up to 14GB of Dynamic RAM Expansion), paired with 256GB of expandable internal storage. Yes, it’s great for gaming, but these numbers also mean it performs well for storing memories and working on everyday tasks. Did somebody call for an all-rounder? Yes, the long standby times and multiple hours of use sound great, but you know what’s even better? The fact that its battery is durable enough to remain in tip-top shape even after 4 years of use. Now, that’s one way to get what you paid for.
Display
The processor and battery are one thing, now let’s talk about the display. The realme 14 5G sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. With a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, you can even use the phone outdoors with no trouble seeing your screen.
Aside from being bright, this display is also vibrant with a nice contrast, making it more immersive. I enjoyed watching my favorite shows and streaming my favorite music videos through this display. It’s high-quality and smooth, perfect for my daily tasks, social media, and of course, gaming.
Build
The realme 14 5G comes in 4 colors: Warrior Pink, Storm Titanium, and Mecha Silver. Its design heavily takes inspiration from “mecha,” more notably in science-fiction movies. It heavily draws inspiration from future machinery, exuding a powerful and tough appearance.
At the back, beside the camera setup, is the “Victory Halo,” or the pulse light. This light is an LED light specialized for gaming functions. It’s a really niche feature, but if you plan on using this phone for gaming, it’s a feature you’ll learn to love.
This light is engineered to be triggered by games, notifications, charging, and alarms. Say you entered the game, got first blood, or won the match, this light will pulsate, indicating your triumph.
Lightweight at 196 grams, the realme 14 5G also has IP69, IP68, and IP66 ratings that ensure its durability. And in case you submerged your phone in water, it also comes with the SonicWave Water Ejection feature that drains your phone’s speakers in no time.
A True Gaming Phone
Have you ever stopped playing because your phone heats up quickly, affecting its overall performance and making it unstable? There are two things about the realme 14 5G to combat these issues: a vapor chamber cooling system and GT Boost.
To prevent the phone from quickly overheating, the phone has realme’s Bionic Cooling system to lower the phone’s temperature. Moreover, it has a special thermal frame and smart temperature sensors to make sure that heat is managed all the time you’re using it.
Now, to maintain a stable performance, the realme 14 5G has an improved and customizable GT Mode to maximize the gaming experience.
Camera
Meanwhile, the cameras on the realme 14 5G are as straightforward as they get. It comes with a 50MP OIS main shooter along with a 16MP front-facing camera.
These cameras were overall great, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect from phones within this price range. The images displayed nice colors and detail, perfect for capturing every burst of life you want to keep.
It’s a great set of cameras for people that isn’t heavy on the specs, but want something that works every time they need it.
Overall Thoughts
The realme 14 5G is a great reminder that there’s always a better option, something that goes beyond what we expect. It’s a reminder that we shouldn’t settle for less because sometimes a great performance, a massive battery, and a great display don’t necessarily mean breaking the bank.
Listen, the realme 14 5G truly performs beyond limits, but it won’t make you spend beyond your means. This phone truly feels like it was made for gaming, no matter which way you look at it.
