Olivia Culpo pokes fun at “lack of energy” criticisms as the Miss Universe 2022 pageant host

Just recently, The Miss Universe Organization, led by the Thailand-based JKN Global Group, announced that Olivia Culpo will return to co-host the Miss Universe 2022 beauty pageant.

This is alongside fashion stylist Jeannie Mai Jenkins, with Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Emmy Award-winning host Zuri Hall as backstage commentators.

Unfortunately, fans on social media can’t help but criticize the choice by saying that she lacks the energy to take on the role. Some pageant fanatics and observers saw the humor in the situation, recalling Olivia’s supposed “lackluster” hosting of the pageant in 2021, together with Mario Lopez.

Good thing that the beauty queen-model used her wit to poke fun at this by answering them through a TikTok video. She seemed to join in on the joke to clap back at her “bashers.”

On Saturday, January 7, she posted the TikTok video where she hopped on the “My Heart Will Go On” trend as she edited snippets of herself on a boat. She wrote in the video,

“On my way to get Red Bull before hosting Miss Universe because user26263747482 said I need more energy this year.”

Also, the model joked about being on her way to the pageant in the caption of her post,

Of course, fans on social media seemed to enjoy how she made fun of the comments by answering them through the platform. In fact, Olivia’s video has garnered over 40,000 likes, 2,000 comments, and 1000 shares on Tiktok, as of this writing.

As seen in the comments of her post, TikTok users indeed hoped that the beauty queen would emerge as a better host in the upcoming pageant.

Celeste Cortesi will represent the Philippines at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana in the U.S. on January 14 (9 a.m. of January 15, Philippine Standard Time). Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event.
