5 Filipino Mom Lines That Just Make Sense

Growing up in a Filipino household means hearing the classic lines of our moms over and over. Well, that is because we make them mad over and over too, LOL. We just got used to it over time and have mastered the pasok sa isang tenga, labas sa kabilang tenga technique. But have you ever tried actually comprehending what they mean when they say those classic lines?

Here are 5 Filipino mom lines that just make sense

Papunta ka pa lang, pabalik na ako.

I personally never understood what this line meant until I became an adult. Oftentimes, we would try to outsmart our moms with white lies just to get away with making trouble. It won’t work 99% of the time because they were once young too, you know? It’s like saying, been there, done that. You can’t trick them!

Manang-mana ka talaga sa tatay mo!

The fact that you made them mad is exactly the reason this is true. It doesn’t matter how lovey-dovey our parents are, there are things that our moms will always hate about our dads! Somehow, I think this is a cute and funny way of looking closely at their relationship.

Mata kasi ang ginagamit pag may hinahanap, hindi bibig.

I think we can all agree that all moms have some sort of unique feature in their eyes that lets them see every single thing. I mean, there’s no way we’ve all been said the same thing when we tried our best to search for something, right? Well, they’re not wrong when they say this, but sometimes, my socks just really weren’t there when I looked!

‘Pag ako namatay, kawawa kayo!

This one sounds quite harsh. But in all honesty, it’s true. Our moms have experienced all sorts of suffering to raise us and make sure that we live the best life as much as we could. We may not see it sometimes, but they are trying not to make us go through the hard life they did when they were young. In conclusion, we should probably try to appreciate our moms more and not take advantage of their presence. They do much more than we notice.

Para kang boarder ah!

Ah, the number of times I’ve said this whenever I go upstairs is unimaginable. Like, sorry mom, but I have the stuff to do too, you know? We need space and a quiet place so that we can effectively study. It shouldn’t matter even if we want to do something else, we can’t sit in the living room all the time!

Our moms can say weird things sometimes, but we love and treasure them. Who knows, we might end up saying the same thing in the future too! Why else do you think they say the exact same thing as it’s been agreed on?
