Venus Raj reflects on body positivity in her recent photoshoot

Venus Raj shared her reflections about body positivity in an Instagram post last Monday, September 13.

Flaunting a gold Filipiniana creation by Francis Libiran, the beauty queen admitted how she lost her confidence in facing the cameras.

Feeling conscious

She began her post by saying how it has been a while since she has done a photoshoot.

Moreover, she felt conscious about her weight gain, which affected how she modeled in the shoot.

“How did I feel? I felt so rusty! Lost the confidence to model in from of the camera. [I] was so conscious about my body because I gained weight. And a bit sad that I can’t do excellently this thing that was so easy for me to do in the past.”

Venus, then, wondered if other women felt her frustration, especially when people are quick to point out their weight gain.

Weight does not define your worth

Furthermore, she advised her fellow women to not allow their worth to be defined by how they weigh.

“Ladies, I feel you. But let us not allow others and even our self-perception to steal the joy in our hearts. Yes! Let’s live a healthier life. Eat healthy food. Exercise for the right reasons. LADIES, YOUR WORTH IS NOT DEFINED BY YOUR WEIGHT!”

Lastly, Venus said the photoshoot has been a path for her to have many realizations, expressing gratitude to the people behind it.

Venus received positive comments from her fellow beauty queens, including Hannah Arnold, Rachel Peters, and MJ Lastimosa.

Venus became popular after giving a viral answer in the Q&A portion of the Miss Universe 2010 pageant.

Venus responded, saying she never made a mistake in her life, citing the would-be problem as a “major major” problem.

The answer would ultimately place her as the 4th runner-up of the competition.

In recent times, Venus placed her focus back on her studies.

In 2017, she earned her master’s degree in Community Development at the University of the Philippines – Diliman.

Last June, she graduated from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA) in Oxford, England.
