Totally Spies! is totes coming back as a reboot
The animated spy show Totally Spies! is officially coming back to Cartoon Network. In an announcement of the revival, production company Banijay Kids & Family calls it both a reboot and a 7th season.
However, no matter what it is, what makes us ecstatic is that there is a new Totally Spies! that will premiere on the network in 2024 before finding a home on the newly rebranded streaming service Max.
It was originally broadcast on ABC Family before moving to Cartoon Network in 2001. The show is produced by French animation company Marathon Media.
A group of Beverly Hills high school girls – smart Sam (Jennifer Hale, from Mass Effect), plucky Alex (Katie Leigh), and fashionable Clover (Andrea Barker) – are also secret agents saving the world in the new film.
As well as being inspired by the 90s era of pop girl groups and Clueless, Totally Spies was fueled by female spy characters in that decade, resulting in the show becoming a generational hit.
The humor of Totally Spies! would turn the typical high school hijinks into action-packed spy shenanigans. As the girls embarked on each mission, they acquired new gadgets, which, though completely implausible and absurd, were still incredibly cool.

Two decades later, fans still recall the series’ entire aesthetic, the iconic Y2K fashion and decor that made it stand out. The show was co-produced with a Canadian company Image Entertainment Corporation after the fifth season, a prequel movie in 2009, and a sixth season in 2013. It had a promotional event at the Palace of Versailles, because it deserved it.
In contrast to the main series, where the girls ultimately left high school for college, it appears that the new season will bring them back to high school, with a new set of bad guys to contend with.
In a press release, Benoît Di Sabatino, CEO of Banjay Kids & Family, the parent company of the show’s distributor, “With strong female leads and an aesthetic that has inspired a generation, Totally Spies! is an iconic show with a hugely passionate global fanbase, eager to join the agents on their latest adventures.”
He continued, “The new series stays true to all the key elements that make the show so popular, but has been lovingly updated for a new audience, reflecting the modern challenges faced by both high schoolers and spies alike!”
A reboot of the show had originally been planned for 2023, but was pushed back to 2024 due to scheduling conflicts, and will now debut on Cartoon Network in the United States, before heading to Max in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
There is no word on whether the original English voice cast will return.
