Connaughton writes the story of a young person whose mother worked at a hospital and died during the pandemic. They give the books to children who experience similar losses. In the foreword, Harry expresses how he wish to hug them. He also reflects on enduring the pain that he experienced from his mother’s sudden death.

“While I wish I was able to hug you right now, I hope this story is able to provide you comfort in knowing that you’re not alone. When I was a young boy I lost my mum. At the time, I didn’t want to believe it or accept it, and it left a huge hole inside of me. I know how you feel, and I want to assure you that over time that hole will be filled with so much love and support. We all cope with loss in a different way, but when a parent goes to heaven, I was told their spirit, their love and the memories of them do not. They are always with you, and you can hold on to them forever. I find this to be true.”

On the book’s website, Connaughton hopes that the story would help make some of the hard and horrible stuff a bit easier.

“Writing about death is hard. Talking about it can be even harder. It’s always hard and horrible to deal with the death of someone you love, to lose someone who loved you. In Fay’s pictures, the person looks like a nurse, but your loved one could be an office worker, a cleaner or a journalist. They might be a waiter, a teacher or anyone else who is special to you. They will always be loved. Whoever you are thinking about, I hope this story helps make some of the hard and horrible stuff a bit easier.”

“My biggest concern was history repeating itself.”

Princess of Wales, Diana, died in a car crash in 1997 while a swarm of paparazzi chased her. Harry had always lamented the way the media treated his mother. Although reporters and photographers hounded her, the general public has always expressed their love and admiration towards her. He even said that the royal family.

In 2017, Harry revealed that he’d gone to therapy to deal with grief. He also admitted that he had blocked out his emotions and came very close to a complete breakdown. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired this month, he criticized how the royal family and Britain’s tabloid press treated his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

“I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for [Diana] going through this process by herself all those years ago. Because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us… I certainly felt her presence throughout this whole process.”
