Her work spans consultancy, writing, public speaking, and empowering individuals to embrace sustainability and an ethical way of living. Her journey, rooted in defiance and compassion, stands as a testament to resilience and purpose.

A Lifetime of Activism

Peachie’s activism began in childhood. At nine, she skipped classes to clean her school, rallying classmates to join her. This early defiance shaped her lifelong mission—to stand against injustice and create solutions.

Her father was her greatest influence. He fought discrimination in the US Navy, defended their community’s rights, and instilled strong principles in her. “Having witnessed his strong sense of justice led me to rebel against an unfair status quo,” she shares.

Her journey has been challenging yet fulfilling. “Fighting and losing constantly can push you to despair,” she admits. But she remains steadfast, finding strength in allies and small victories.

Women as the Driving Force of Activism

Peachie believes women have always been powerful catalysts for change. “Women are good community mobilizers and are backed by courage and genuine care,” she explains. Their voices push for inclusivity and justice, making their involvement essential.

While acknowledging progress in gender equality, she warns against complacency. “Misogyny thrives, and violence against women and children is still a global problem,” she says. Activism ensures these issues remain at the forefront.

Peachie has faced discrimination, especially in Western countries. “I have felt condescension and the downplaying of my inputs,” she recalls. Instead of backing down, she fights harder. “I let them know I cannot be bullied or belittled,” she asserts.

Despite this, she feels empowered in the Philippines. The country ranks 25th in the Global Gender Gap Index, reinforcing her confidence. “I never felt challenged here because of my gender,” she shares.

Defining Moments in Activism

Two moments stand out in Peachie’s activism, both deeply connected to her commitment to animal rights and ethical veganism..

The first was the Animal Rights March in Manila, where she walked alongside her daughter, mother, and husband in solidarity. Held in the streets of Manila, the march started at Bonifacio Shrine, stopping at Manila Zoo and Manila Ocean Park.

My daughter is proud of me. She decided to be vegan at three years old,” she shares with deep conviction.

The second moment was her involvement in VegFest Pilipinas, Asia’s largest vegan festival, which promotes ethical, environmental, and health-conscious veganism. She started as a speaker in 2018, later becoming a co-organizer, helping expand the festival’s reach and educational impact.

Many individuals and families transitioned because they learned a lot in this event,” she shares, proud of its growing influence. Seeing people shift their mindsets fuels her passion, proving that activism, education, and community can create meaningful, lasting change.

A Message to All Women

For Peachie, Women’s Month is a reminder of both progress and ongoing struggles. “Women’s Month keeps us on our toes because femicide and misogyny still exist,” she emphasizes.

Her message to women is clear: “Speak out. Take action. Do not be afraid to occupy spaces.” She urges women to protect the rights fought for by past generations. “Our work is not done,” she says.

Peachie Dioquino-Valera embodies the spirit of activism. She fights not just for women, but also for future generations. Her journey is proof that one voice can ignite lasting change.
