Miles Ocampo reached worldwide trends on Twitter last Monday following her exceptional portrayal in the pilot of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

Batang Quiapo is the 2023 adaptation of a 1986 action-comedy film of the same name by Fernando Poe Jr. It tackles the story of a crime lord’s son plotting a bank robbery in a struggle to prove his worth. Things, however, changed when the plan went south.

The project is written, directed, and co-produced by Coco Martin, who will also play the titular role. Additionally, Lovie Poe, the daughter of the late King of Philippine Movies, was cast as the female lead.

The series also stars Christopher de Leon, Cherry Pie Picache, and Charo Santos.

Ocampo marked her return to drama scenes with the pioneer episode of Batang Quiapo. Playing the younger version of Picache, she gave life to a wretched mother and a victim of rape. Viewers were impressed by her remarkable appearance.

In particular, Ocampo is commended for delivering various depths of her character in the pilot episode alone. The actress transitioned from a rape victim to an expectant mother to a woman finally conceding to her maternity. All of these are despite her brief participation in the program as a guest supporting role.

On Monday night, Ocampo rose as among the most discussed topics on Twitter trends, along with Batang Quiapo and Coco Martin. Netizens applauded her prowess, saying the 25-year-old former Goin’ Bulilit star performed far more than a cameo.

Meanwhile, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo reportedly recorded almost 400,000 concurrent views on its live broadcast on YouTube.

Batang Quiapo airs weeknights via Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Cinemo, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC, and TFC.
