Maricel Bumanglag — the New HR Director Appointed by DHL Express Philippines

As a trusted business partner, Maricel will be responsible for enhancing employee engagement. This is through the delivery of employee programs and initiatives to ensure a great place to work for all 

DHL Express reigns as the world’s leading international express service provider. It has appointed Maricel Bumanglag as the new Human Resources (HR) Director for the Philippines.

Maricel’s role as an HR director is to provide HR advice and services. Also, she is in charge of designing HR policies and practices. Indeed, this is to ensure innovation thrives in a practical and cost-effective manner.

She is also tasked to provide a range of HR interventions and support the country management. Maricel develops a positive leadership style and skills to strengthen DHL’s position as an employer of choice. Her role also includes ensuring a good employee climate; high morale and effective communication and designing a fair system of enforcing work discipline.

Prior to being named HR Director, Maricel was the Accounts and Customer Care Manager for DHL Express Philippines. In that role, she led the team of customer service executives (CS), providing after-sales customer service support to all customers.

“Maricel is an experienced and efficient manager. We are very happy to welcome and support her as the new HR Director. Her integrity and strong sense of ethics make her the perfect person for the job,” said Nigel Lockett, Country Manager of DHL Express Philippines.

Maricel started her career with DHL Express. She spent the past 20 years of her career at different parts of the network. In different capacities, she has led and established company and functional wide programs. These are mostly on continuous productivity, improvement of efficiency, and digitalization.

She was also part of the country steering committee for DHL Express’ core team. They promote a customer-centric culture within the company. Maricel has been nominated Employee of the Year four times. She was the recipient of the Country Manager Award in 2011.

Maricel will also serve as DHL Express Philippines’ champion for employee engagement and people management. She will head and implement local programs and activities on topics. These include diversity and inclusion, to foster camaraderie, equality, and equal opportunities for all employees.
