Julia Barretto is proud to be ‘kuripot’ and so should you

Now that she’s making it on her own and living independently, Kapamilya actress Julia Barretto is undergoing some lifestyle changes. She recently revealed that her priorities are now different from before and even labeled herself as a ‘kuripot.’

Before, fans may have seen her cabinets filled with designer and luxurious items. The 23-year-old star is currently drifting her expenses to more important things such as household bills. It can be recalled that she recently moved to her own place last year.

In her latest vlog, Julia gave her fans a tour of her closet and shared how things have changed since she started living by herself. She is proud of her growth and maturity with the adjustments she’s made in her shopping habits.

“Nung bata pa ako, magastos talaga ako. Pero ngayon na I live on my own and ako na nagra-run ng household, tipid na ako. Ano na ako, kuripot na.”

Even at a young age, the actress said that she’s always tried to handle her earnings well. Julia confessed that she won’t ever purchase designer clothes just for her casual wear, says she’d rather allocate the money to her electric bill!

“Hindi pa ako ever nakakabili ng designer clothes. Parang, hindi ko alam if it’s something I’ll ever do. Maybe for like a ball or maybe for like a wedding or maybe for an important event. Pero yung mga pang… yung every day? Parang huwag na, my gosh. Pambayad ko na lang yun ng Meralco.”

Practicing self-control

Julia admitted that in the past, it was her guilty pleasure to acquire luxury bags and shoes. There was even a time that she got into collecting them. However, as she matures in the industry, she begins to realize the value of her hard-earned money.
