ChatGPT for Android rolls out next week

OpenAI, the company behind the infamous ChatGPT, announced that they’re now releasing a dedicated app for the Android platform.

In a tweet, the company says that ChatGPT for Android will start rolling out some time next week. Additionally, its Google Play listing is now live and users can pre-register to get notified as soon as the app goes live.

This comes after OpenAI introduced ChatGPT for the iPhone in May. And only had become available locally in the Philippines by the following month.

However, OpenAI did not disclose any further details on which regions will get the hands on ChatGPT for Android early. So, we can expect that it comes sooner than later.

While users can currently access ChatGPT on Android or iOS through a browser, the interface is quite not optimized for mobile devices. The release of a dedicated app will bring an interface that is tailored for mobile devices along with features designed specifically for Android users.

Meanwhile, Google has its own AI chatbot too, dubbed as Bard. Despite being the very curator of Android, they haven’t released a dedicated mobile app yet. Bard is only available as a web-based interface for now.

Microsoft’s Bing on the other hand has been available on Android and iOS since February. It uses its Prometheus Model and GPT-4. If you can’t wait a few days for ChatGPT’s Android app release, this may be an alternative option for you.
