BIGGEST OSCARS SNUBS OF ALL TIME: 13 Celebrities Who Still Don’t Have An Oscar

They have endured years of disappointments. They even experienced being the butt of jokes. These actors remain ten of the long-touted ones who experienced being enlisted to reach the ranks of an Oscar winner. After this year’s Academy Awards, we take a look at some of the famous faces who still have yet to take Oscar home.

Biggest Oscars Snub of All Time:

Glenn Close

Probably the most nominated living actor to never win an Oscar, Glenn Close has been nominated seven times for either the Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress. She has been nominated for The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, Albert Nobbs and The Wife.

Naomi Watts

Her name became enlisted to become the Best Actress for two times. Although the right people won both years she was nominated (Charlize Theron for Monster and Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook), Naomi Watts will definitely have her day. Her work in The Impossible remained critically acclaimed and forever relevant. Of course, her unforgettable performance in The Impossible gained her a nomination. Aside from that, 21 Grams also gave her one more step to become an Oscar winner.

Amy Adams

This actress may be chasing Glenn Close for the record of number of nominations without a win. The six-time nominated star Amy Adams have five nominations for Best Supporting Actress which she has always lost out to equally worthy actresses. She has been nominated for her works in Vice, American Hustle, The Master, The Fighter, Doubt and also Junebug.

Sir Ian McKellen

His work on stage have gained him plenty of accolades over the years. However, Sir Ian McKellen still goes home without an Oscar in his hand. Although regarded as a true veteran onscreen and even onstage, he still doesn’t have a statue with his name on it. He has nominations for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and Gods and Monsters.

Scarlett Johansson

Being nominated for two categories in one year, you might have thought that she would win at least one of them. However, Scarlett Johansson remained empty-handed despite her glorious performance in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. Aside from that, her roles in Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring should have gained her a nomination.

Jim Carrey

Although known as a slapstick comedy actor, he already starred in serious and heart-wrenching roles that should have gained him a nomination. Jim Carrey gave us a surprising performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Truman Show and Man on the Moon. However, Oscar voters had rated it lower than they should.

Robert Downey Jr.

Ironman himself has yet to receive a statue of Oscar for himself. Although he may have refused to campaign for an award for his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, his works in Chaplin and Zodiac should have gained him a recognition. Aside from Chaplin, Robert Downey Jr. also received nomination for his role in Tropic Thunder.

Ryan Gosling

He should have scored nods, if not wins, for his several performances. Being a blockbuster heavyweight, Ryan Gosling shows off his real range with different genres of movies. Blue Valentine, DriveThe Notebook and especially, Lars and the Real Girl should have gained him an award aside from being nominated for La La Land and Half Nelson.

Samuel L. Jackson

Admittedly, a lot of the titles on his filmography aren’t Oscar bait, we remain in shock at the lack of recognition. Nominated for Pulp Fiction, Samuel L. Jackson should have had more than one.

Helena Bonham Carter

The queen herself has become a shrine of Golden Globe nominations. However, her list of Oscar achievements remain scarce. Helena Bonham Carter still remained destined to wait a little longer. Being an evil witch in Harry Potter or singing about as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd didn’t give her the recognition she truly deserved. She has been nominated for The King’s Speech and The Wings of the Dove.

Jake Gyllenhaal

The fact that he has not gained nominations for a lot of his roles continue to bewilder his fans. Jake Gyllenhaal should have gained nominations, if not wins, for his roles in Donnie Darko, Nightcrawler, Nocturnal Animals, Jarhead, End of Watch and even Southpaw. Although nominated for Brokeback Mountain, neither him nor Heath Ledger took home an Oscar— which remains unfortunate and baffling.

Alan Rickman

Beloved for his performances onscreen, he sadly passed away in 2016. Alan Rickman remained a legend due to his astounding performance in Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually and especially as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series. Although beloved onscreen, he never even gained a nomination for any of his famous roles.

Angela Bassett

Although she lost to Holly Hunter for her role in The Piano, her career didn’t turn out too shabby. Still one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood, she continues to live as an icon to women everywhere. Despite getting an acclaimed performance in one nomination for her role in What’s Love Got To Do With It, Angela Bassett remains Oscar-less.
