Style, Served the Nash August Way

Style, Served the Nash August Way

Nash August

There’s a certain energy Nash August brings to a shoot. A rack of clothes, a few outfit changes, a last-minute switch, and suddenly, the look comes together. As Village Pipol’s resident stylist, Nash has become part of the creative process behind our shoots, bringing his eye for streetwear and his instinct for what works on camera.

But his style didn’t come from simply following fashion. It grew from the streets, hip-hop, dance, and years of watching performers turn fashion into part of the performance itself. Now, as he celebrates another birthday, Nash looks back at the roots that shaped him, the projects that challenged him, and the dreams that are making him aim even higher.

IT ALL STARTED WITH THE STREETS

If you ask Nash where his styling comes from, he’ll always take you back to his roots: street, hip-hop, and the dance community. Before becoming a full-time fashion stylist, he dreamed of becoming a well-known dance artist, and his fascination with fashion grew alongside that dream.

He remembers watching dance competitions, artists, and backup dancers on television and thinking, “I wanna dress up like them!” What started as admiration eventually became part of his own creative language, giving him a style that feels closely connected to movement and performance.

Today, working with P-pop groups allows Nash to bring both of his passions together. Being a dancer himself has also become an advantage when styling performers.

“I get to do both styling and dancing,” he says. “It is also my edge that I am also a dancer myself, so I know how the garment works on their body, particularly when performing.”

For Nash August, the best styling isn’t just about making an outfit look good. It is about understanding the person wearing it and making sure the clothes move with them.

WEAR WHAT FEELS LIKE YOU

In a fashion world that is constantly telling us what’s in and what’s out, Nash isn’t too interested in keeping score. For him, style is less about chasing a trend and more about knowing what makes you feel good.

His philosophy is simple: wear what you want, whether it’s trending or not. A look that is everywhere online doesn’t automatically mean it will work for everyone, just as something considered overrated might still be perfect for you. At the end of the day, personal style should still feel personal.

“Wear what you wanna wear regardless if it’s trending or not,” Nash shares. “My goal is not to change who they really are but to amplify their beauty, elevate their look, and help them confidently express who they really are.”

That same mindset shapes the way Nash works with his muses. And when it comes to completing an outfit, Nash believes there is one piece that never goes out of style: confidence.

“Confidence is always the last piece that will complete your whole outfit,” he says. “No matter how simple or extra your outfit is, if you are not confident with it, then you are not serving!”

EVERY PROJECT TELLS A DIFFERENT STORY

Nash’s career has taken him through projects that challenged different sides of his creativity. His work with HORI7ON, for example, with a huge fanbase watching, the pressure was real, but so was the pride he felt in delivering looks that worked for the group and their fans.

“It’s kind of challenging dressing up seven men consistently. Plus, you have to consider their branding from time to time. I’m so proud of myself and my team for always serving the best looks and not failing the boys and their fans.”

Then, in 2024, Nash stepped into a completely different role when he presented his first fashion show as a designer through Styled Conquest. After becoming comfortable with styling, designing pushed him to explore what it meant to create from an entirely different perspective. It was a chance to step out from behind the styling rack and show another side of his artistry.

And then came Los Angeles.

For someone who started with fun shoots on the streets of Manila, getting the opportunity to shoot his own designs in LA became a surreal milestone. The three experiences may seem completely different, but for Nash August, they all represent the same thing: growth through every opportunity to create.

“I thought to myself that I’m really fine as a stylist, but being a designer is another level. So I gave myself a chance to show how I am as a designer. Who would have thought that from doing a fun shoot on the streets of Manila to doing a shoot in Los Angeles, California?”

He treats his work as a collection of stepping stones, with each project contributing something new to the artist he is becoming.

Whether he’s styling a P-pop group, designing a collection, or bringing his work overseas, Nash continues to find ways to push himself beyond what he already knows.

NO SHORTAGE OF DREAMS

As he enters another year, Nash has no shortage of dreams. He wants to mount his own fashion show alongside major brands, direct a fashion show, take on more projects outside the Philippines, receive the recognition he deserves, and eventually build his own styling studio.

But beyond the physical milestones, Nash wants something bigger: to keep becoming a better artist. He wants to take on challenges that will sharpen his skills, explore more sides of fashion and dance, and continue growing alongside the people and passions he loves.

For the year ahead, he is claiming three words: courage, growth, and love.

“Courage to face new challenges that will hone me to become a better artist and better version of myself,” he says. “Growth when it comes to skill and talent, because life is constantly changing.”

And then, love. not only in the romantic sense, but also in being surrounded by the people who matter most.

“I wanna be surrounded with the people I love the most. I wanna spend more time with my love in both fashion and dancing. And I wanna feel loved.”

For Nash August, the next chapter isn’t simply about dressing the part. It’s about creating more, dreaming bigger, and having the courage to see just how far his own style can take him.
