TECH/REVIEW | Shine like a star with the OPPO Reno 15 5G
The OPPO Reno series has always been the brand’s way of playing with aesthetics, performance, and where cameras are designed with creative intent. With the OPPO Reno 15 5G, that philosophy feels sharper and more confident than ever. It refines what the Reno line does best: design that turns heads, captivating cameras, and software that integrates with your lifestyle.
After spending time with the Reno 15 5G—taking photos, gaming between deadlines, and pushing it through the predictable chaos of my schedule—it’s clear that OPPO isn’t just iterating here. The Reno 15 feels like an evolution, packaged into a device that’s sleek, capable, and unapologetically modern.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at how bright the OPPO Reno 15 5G shines in this edition of VP Tech.
Build and design

The first impression of the OPPO Reno 15 5G is visual, and it’s deliberate. Available in Twilight Blue, Aurora Blue, and Aurora White, the phone introduces OPPO’s “Dancing Aurora” texture design. This is an effect that doesn’t just reflect light but seems to animate with it. Subtle shifts in color ripple across the back panel as the phone moves, giving it a dynamic quality that feels more couture.
What elevates the design beyond surface-level flair is the construction. Sculpted from a single piece of glass, its back cover flows seamlessly into the camera module. It feels intentional and surprisingly ergonomic. At 197 grams, the Reno 15 5G strikes a rare balance: substantial enough to feel premium, yet light enough to remain comfortable during long use.

The durability story is equally impressive. With IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications, the Reno 15 is built to survive more than just accidental splashes. This level of protection takes care of what the outdoors may throw at me while shooting, no matter if it’s rain or dirt, this phone handles the elements, and ensures the content remains on point—even if it means shooting underwater.
Display

Up front, the 6.59-inch AMOLED display does exactly what it should. The panel is crisp and vibrant, avoiding the oversaturation that can make content look a bit cheap.
The 120Hz refresh rate adds a layer of fluidity that becomes most noticeable during everyday interactions: scrolling through articles, flipping between apps, or navigating the interface at speed.

This is the kind of display that fades into the background when you’re focused on content, which, in my experience, is the best experience you can have for a screen.
Camera

OPPO’s reputation in mobile imaging continues to hold strong with the OPPO Reno 15 5G. The 50MP main camera delivers consistently sharp images with natural color rendering and confident dynamic range.
The 8MP ultra-wide camera complements the setup well, while the 50MP telephoto adds flexibility that feels and looks really great. Where things get particularly interesting, however, is up front. The 50MP ultra-wide selfie camera, with its expansive 100-degree field of view, is more than a spec flex. It’s practical. Group selfies feel effortless, and it preserves the ambiance without distortion going out of control.

We are still getting all of the AI features we love from the previous Reno series versions, now with the addition of more features, such as our personal favorite, the AI Motion Photo Popout, bringing life to collages, quite literally, and making popout collages easier to achieve. Another new standout feature for us is the AI Portrait Glow, which allows us to relight photos that were taken against the light. No more “sayang naman!” moments with this tool just one tap away.

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again, for creators using multiple devices, O+ Connect quietly becomes one of the Reno 15 5G’s most underrated features. Seamless file transfers between OPPO and iOS devices remove friction from creative workflows, allowing you to shoot on one device and edit on another without the hassle.
Performance and gaming

Powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, day-to-day performance with the OPPO Reno 15 5G is smooth and stable, even under sustained load. OPPO’s AI HyperBoost 2.0 engine ensures that popular MOBA titles like Mobile Legends and PUBG run at a steady 120fps, without feeling the heat on the palm of your hands.

With up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, multitasking feels effortless. Running on ColorOS 16, paired with the new Trinity Engine, intelligently adapts to usage patterns, optimizing resources in a way that feels invisible but effective. The software looks and feels organized, paired with the smoothest experience each time you scroll.
Battery and charging

The OPPO Reno 15 5G’s 6500mAh battery is a quiet powerhouse. It comfortably powers through a full day of heavy use. When it’s time to recharge, 80W SuperVOOC charging turns battery anxiety into a nonissue. Plugging in for a short break delivers meaningful gains, which is exactly how fast charging should function.
Overall thoughts
The OPPO Reno 15 5G refines, polishes, and elevates the Reno identity into something that feels cohesive and confident. With standout design, a thoughtfully balanced camera system, and performance that never demands attention, the Reno 15 proves that innovation doesn’t always need to be in your face. Sometimes, it just needs to be done well and felt naturally.
