Reminiscing a memorable incident with a young fan

Bautista recalled his first encounter with the six-year-old Forteza, his biggest fan since then. It was a while back during his mall shows when he met his cutest admirer.

“Noong una ko siyang na-meet sa mall show, basta para akong nagulat. Then inintroduce siya ng parents niya [and] I was just so amazed. [For me] it was a cute moment,” he said.

Over the years, Bautista would often see the young Forteza in several of his shows in Laguna. But after about three or more times, they never crossed paths again. Years later, the two eventually came across each other again at an award show.

Both discovered they were artists under the same network. Bautista narrated how he felt delighted to realize Forteza was the little fan he had met years ago.

“It was always nice na never would I see [such] young [girl] go up the stage to watch my shows. And years later, she went up to me, ‘Kuya Christian ako ‘yung umaakyat sa stage.” [And my response was] ‘Wow, yes! I remember!’

[Kaya] now na nagkakasama kami sa All Out Sundays, and we’re participating sa music video ng The Way You Look At Me– ang ganda. Ang ganda ng story.”

Bautista and Forteza’s reunion for the music video

Fast forward to today, Bautista is working with Forteza and Licauco on the music video for The Way You Look At Me. He expressed that he could not be happier with how their unique history came full circle.

“I’m very happy na kasama siya sa music video. I’m very happy [din] for Barbie and David na nandito sila. They made [my song] extra special with their performance.”

Bautista further bestowed approval of the Barbie and David pairing, calling it a “strong” tandem. He also bared his astonishment at the phenomenal duo.

“Ito ‘yung mga once-in-a-lifetime moments na talagang the support of the fandom is so huge. [The love team] is full of love for both of them together and individually.”

Lessons he learned in two decades

Bautista began his journey in 2003 as a finalist for the ABS-CBN talent search program Star in a Million. With his 20 years of experience in the field, he revealed his most significant takeaway and advice for the young generation.

“Greatest lesson? There will be times na it will be so fun then it will be hard. And [when that happens], we just have to keep the faith and our goals in mind.”

The experienced singer also advised keeping God at the center of one’s career to navigate the unpredictable showbiz industry.

Looking forward to the future

When asked about the prospect of his career, Bautista said he hopes to release more songs and contribute to Original Pilipino Music. He noted that he aims to broaden his artistry in different countries and be part of more musicals or television shows.

As for his impression of P-Pop and his pointers to the starting artists,

“P-Pop is amazing. Ang daming different styles, artists, and bands or groups. Talagang nagbibigay sila ng bagong fuel, flame, and passion sa OPM,” he stressed.

“My advice, definitely, [one should] work hard and partner with the right people. Don’t be selfish, and be open to collaboration. Work well with everyone and be practical also. Kasi, there are times [you must] push for it, and there are times to take a break and get back to it again.”

Indeed, Christian Bautista’s 20th year in the showbiz industry is a testament to his talent, hard work, and dedication to his craft. He will certainly keep making beautiful music that serves as an inspiration for future generations.
