International designer Jhay Layson unveils his 2022 collection via “Ani” (A fashion film)
Jhay Layson is an emerging Filipino womenswear and menswear designer who combines an exuberant vision to fabrics and silhouettes.
Additionally, he adds a carefree yet gentle approach to femininity.
Jhay recently unveiled an all-red ensemble with a neo-ethnic twist, his forecast for Spring-Summer 2022, via a fashion film.
It premiered last Sunday, August 22, on YouTube.
This collection, aptly named “Ani” (“Harvest”), comes as an innovative response to the global state of the fashion industry.
Following a challenging and unprecedented year brought by the pandemic, Jhay envisions a post-pandemic world of abundance.
Moreover, this all-red collection by Jhay pays homage to a color that represents luck, passion, happiness, and even aristocratic excess.
Furthermore, it draws inspiration from the works of Filipino masters in visual art, whose depiction of local color is unmodified and un-distorted.
Prior to the global pandemic, Jhay spent several fashion seasons touring his collections in Filipino communities in the USA (Houston, Beaumont, Austin, Cheyenne, and Los Angeles) and Europe (Rome, Kristiansand, Madrid, and Paris).
He also presented his works in fashion weeks in Manhattan, Bangkok, and the Philippines.
