Apple introduces iOS 14 with a home screen customization, app clips feature, and more!

If you’re an iPhone user, you probably be delighted with the new look of your device after this latest update. We’re definitely talking about the launch of the iOS 14 that seems to pack a lot of changes in the interface and functionality. Let’s take a brief look at those new features and modifications!

New changes in widgets, messaging function, Siri, and app discovery?

iOS 14 now has widgets that seem modern and useful compared to the widgets of an Android phone. These widgets display timely information at glance and you can pin them in different sizes on any Home Screen. According to Apple, users can make a Smart Stack of widgets that uses on-device intelligence. This enables the phone to show the right widget based on time, location, and activity.

There’s also an App Library at the end of the home screen pages to automatically organize all apps. It will arrange them into one simple, easy-to-navigate view but users can choose how many Home Screen pages to display. They can also hide pages for faster access to the app library.

Aside from that, incoming FaceTime and phone calls and Siri interactions will have a new compact design. This allows users to focus on the tasks that they are doing. Moreover, the Picture-in-Picture support lets iPhone users to watch a video or make a FaceTime call while using another app.

Apple also introduced App Clips as a new method to discover and use apps. App Clip is a part of an app experience that suggests apps that users might need at a specific moment. App Clips in association with a  product or business which loads within seconds to complete specific tasks such as purchasing a coffee and more. Users can access by scanning a new Apple-designed App Clip code, NFC tags, QR codes, shared in Messages, and Safari.

As for the message functionality, you can now pin conversations to the top of your messages list and conveniently be updated with mentions and inline replies. Furthermore, you can customize conversations by using an image or emoji as a group photo.  There are also new Memoji options that offer additional hairstyles, headwear, face coverings, and others.

Improvements in Maps, Privacy, and other features.

As for Maps, iOS 14 now has New Guides for users’ easier navigation experience. It now features new cycling directions, electric vehicle routing, and curated Guides as well. Apple claimed that guides are a great way to discover hot new restaurants, find popular attractions, and explore new recommendations from respected brands.

There are also big changes in terms of privacy in this new iOS since it will require to obtain user permission for all apps before it starts tracking. The App Store product pages will showcase summaries of developers’ self-reported privacy practices in a simple format.

Other additional iOS 14 Features include an improved Translate, Siri, AirPods, Digital car keys, Find My, Safari, Health, Weather, and Accessibility.

The iOS 14 is now downloadable Apple Developer Program members while the public beta will be released for iOS users next month. This operating system update will be available for FREE to iPhone 6s and later.
