4 Easiest DIY Face Masks You Can Do For The Natural Glow

Face masks claim that they can improve the appearance and health of your skin. The magic behind these relies on their ingredients. They trap moisture or ingredient in the skin. This, then, creates a film that helps to either hydrate, moisturize, dry, and/or exfoliate the skin depending on the ingredients used and its purpose.

At-home beauty treatments have always been one option that you can do. However, the COVID-19 pandemic made it the only option. Sure, the transition was painful. But, it popularized DIY face masks which quickly became one of the most satisfying and practical skin care options around. You can just get the ingredients from your fridge or the pantry and you’ll be good to go.

Banana, lemon, and honey

You will need a piece of ripe or over-ripe banana, a teaspoon of organic honey, and a generous splash of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mash the chopped banana to a pulp. Then, add the honey and lemon juice before mashing them together. Keep it aside for a few minutes. After that, you can wash your face well and pat dry.

That’s when you can apply the mask on your face and spread it evenly. Leave it on for at least twenty minutes or half an hour if possible. As soon as time passes, wash your face off with regular tap water before patting your skin dry. 

The banana fruit pack is dubbed as the best homemade face mask for people with oily skin. It helps exfoliate the skin, unclogs pores, and gets rid of dead skin. This will also leave your skin supple, dewy, and shiny. Aside from helping out with blood pressure and digestion, bananas will work wonders on oily skin. 

Papaya and oat scrub

You will need half of a papaya fruit, two big spoons of oats, and a spoonful of almond oil. Firstly, you need to smash the papaya and make it pulpy which will turn into a thick paste. Then, add the oats to the pulp and mix it the way you want.

If you want a slightly coarse scrub, you can leave it as is. Or, if you want a milder one, you can grind the oats. Add the extra ingredient of a spoon of almond oil or whichever essential oil you like that won’t harm your skin. 

Your skin will have to be damp before using it. Take a little amount and gently scrub your face or body with it. Lightly scrub for two minutes maximum in a circular motion before rinsing or wiping it off with lukewarm water. 

It’s a dream to have smooth and glowing skin. So, a natural and homemade papaya and oat scrub will do magic on your skin. With papayas being a good source of vitamin A and papain, it helps out with fighting blemishes and pimples. 

Almond oil and aloe vera face mask

You’re going to need two tablespoons of fresh or bottled aloe vera gel, two tablespoons of organic almond oil, and one banana. To prepare this, you’re going to mash your banana in a bowl or a container. Then, add aloe vera gel and almond oil to the mixture. After combining them all together, your face mask is ready to use.

Before using the face mask, on the other hand, you have to clean your face and neck with a regular face cleanser. Then, apply the DIY mask to your face and neck area. Keep it on for ten to fifteen minutes. After time passes by, wash your face with warm water and put moisturizer after drying your face. You can use this mask two or three days every week. 

Aside from smelling nice, the face mask can be treated for dry skin. Since almost 99% of aloe vera gel is water, your skin will absorb all the water it needs. It also has a moisturizing power which will make sure your skin has the hydration that it deserves. Overall, this will make your skin softer and make you glow even more. 

Chocolate face mask

We all love eating chocolate. But, this time, we’ll be using this as a face mask for oily and acne-prone. So, what you’re going to need is a tablespoon of natural cocoa powder, a pinch of cinnamon, and a tablespoon of organic honey. Combine them all in a bowl until it turns into a paste. If it’s too thick, add a bit more honey. That’s when you can apply it to your face. But, you have to make sure you avoid your eyes. Leave the mixture on for twenty to thirty minutes before washing it all off. 

There is also another mixture that you can use for normal skin. You’re going to need two 56-grams extra dark chocolate bars, a two-thirds cup of milk, a teaspoon of sea salt, and three tablespoons of brown sugar. Using a microwave, melt the chocolate in a bowl at thirty-second increments and stir it all well. Add the salt, sugar, and milk to the melted chocolate, and again, mix it well. Allow it to cool before applying it to your face and neck. Again, make sure to avoid your eyes. Leave it on for fifteen to twenty minutes before rinsing it all off. 

Made from antioxidant-rich cocoa, it has become known for its heart-healthy benefits. And, dark chocolate is actually good for your skin, too. It contains catechins, polyphenols, and flavanols which are powerful antioxidants. The flavonols present can protect the skin from harmful UV rays. It also improves skin hydration levels and boosts blood flow. 

With that said, you don’t need to go to a spa just to get that glow. All you need to do is go to your refrigerator or pantry to make your own DIY face masks and you’re good to go!
