3 iOS 18 Features We’re Excited to Try

It’s time for a new iOS version and we can’t wait to see what it offers. Yep, last year’s iOS 17 bids fare well, as this year’s iOS 18 enters the building.

While there are a lot of debates going on about whether the enhancement it brings is detrimental, there are a lot of hidden gems within this version that got our curious noses to work.

A quick note that we’ll be leaving out all Apple Intelligence stuff in this article because that on its own deserves its separate article.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into 3 features from the iOS 18 we’re excited to try.

Control Center

First, we must talk about the new look of the Control Center. Pulling down from the upper right side of the screen reveals a more colorful and now paginated Control Center.

The first page contains nothing unfamiliar; it contains all the toggles that the previous Control Center had. Furthermore, users now have the option to customize the placements and the size of each toggle for an added personal touch.

The second page contains a media visualizer while the third page contains a list of connectivity toggles. Honestly, it’s minimal potential quality-of-life updates that may come in handy in the future. We’re just excited to play around with the customization it offers.

Passwords App

While our phones saving our passwords isn’t anything new, this feature just gives it a home we can always go back to. An easy go-to app where our passwords are stored for all our accounts and subscriptions.

For somebody who tends to forget his passwords most of the time, this comes in handy from time to time when I need to log in or remember a password on a whim.

Home Screen Customization

At last, home screen customization has finally arrived in 2024 for iOS users, what a time to be alive! Kidding aside, while this feature has long been enjoyed by Android users, Apple delivers its take on customization.

First, you can place your apps wherever you want on the screen. Moreover, there’s also this new ‘Edit’ button up top that gives you even more customization settings for your home screen.

There’s this new ‘Large’ option that makes your icons larger, but also removes the icon names for that super clean look. The ‘Tinted’ setting also lets you match the color of your apps to the color of your wallpaper.

Minor as it may seem, this presents fun and fresh ways to make your phone uniquely yours and we can’t wait to try it.
