Nora Aunor named Hall of Famer of PH Cinema at the 4th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards
Despite the pandemic, the 4th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards (APLA) pushed through at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila. On June 26, Superstar Nora Aunor won the Hall of Famer of Philippine Cinema.

The Asia Pacific Luminare Awards (APLA) remains an organization that searches for the best of the best individuals and companies across all of Asia. Of course, this includes industry titans, entertainment, and cultural artists. Aside from them, the award-giving body also recognizes corporate heroes, advocates of the planet, and people. Actor, painter, philanthropist Jao Mapa spearheads the organization. Filmmaker and event organizer Perry Escaño joins him. They serve as the chairman and vice-chairman, respectively, of the Asia Pacific Luminare Awards.
Jao Mapa said,
“I want to say congratulations to all our awardees. We look forward to seeing more success, better leadership and charity works from you in the future. You earned it!”
Jao graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Fine Arts, major in advertising. He had his first major art show at Grey Gallery in Antipolo, Rizal in 2012. Being a film and television actor, he has 50 credit titles for Philippine Cinema and television, since the 1990s.
Kiwanis Charity Organization Mega Cavite becomes the beneficiary of APLA.
According to the mission-vision of APLA, they also aim to give rightful recognition and appreciation to the members of different industries. Organizations that share huge contributions to the entire Filipino nation.
Professor Angelito Buan, the marketing director of the event stated,
“It is essential that we learn from their experiences and encourage them to continue in what they are doing and even support their growth so that they can be more and do more.”
The awards council selected the recipients of the awards from a set of candidates. These also include peers from the same field, or, beneficiaries of their work. The awards council also wants to give time for the award council to gather and confirm the information provided. Hence, each month, a particular field becomes highlighted while they receive nominees two months prior to the awarding.
The legendary Superstar and multi-awarded actress Nora Aunor became the title of Hall of Famer of Philippine Cinema. However, unfortunately, the Superstar got her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Hence, her award was received by her representative Rico Gonzales who also read her thank you and acceptance speech.
Nora, represented by Rico, said,
“Kapag dumarating sa akin ang mag pagtatanong na ganyan, ang iniisip ko po, ay siguro nga, mayroon akong nagawang mabuti at makabuluhan para patuloy ninyo akong bigyan ng mga ganitong uri ng parangal.”
“(Whenever I am asked questions like that, I always think, ‘Oh, maybe I really do accomplish something right and meaningful for you to continuously give me this kind of award)”
