LG unveiled an upcoming smartphone with “raindrop” camera design
LG’s high-end phones in the past like both from the G series and V series look almost the same. However, the South Korean tech brand is spicing things up as it came up with a smartphone with pretty new aesthetics.
Opposing the industry trend and drawing inspiration from nature
Most mobile phones from Huawei, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Apple is equipped with a huge camera bump. But LG shared that the new design language is “a nod to the natural world with a visual form factor that differs from the industry trend.”
The first thing that you’ll notice with its design is the “raindrop” camera. In the upper-left corner of the phone’s rear, you can find three rear cameras and an LED flash. The main camera sits slightly above the surface while the other two lenses are positioned under the smooth glass. They are arranged in descending order by size, to portray images of falling raindrops or dripping water.
In addition to this, LG claimed that it’s showcasing a new “3D Arc Design” element. This involves symmetrical curves on the screen with the phone’s backside. The curves give a more pleasing sense of touch compared to previous models. It can be a result of less sharp edges and angles on the sides.
There’s no information yet about smartphone’s specs and features but it seems like this design will be applied to other upcoming models. LG’s VP and Head of Mobile Communications Design Lab Cha Yong-duk stated: “Our upcoming smartphone will draw on the rich history of classic LG designs which have always been distinctive at first touch. This handset will be a first-look at the competitive edge we will be bringing to every LG smartphone going forward.”
We’ll give you an update regarding the smartphone’s price and availability upon its official release. Stay tuned!
