James Webb Space Telescope: Path to new discovery

NASA, together with US President Joe Biden, revealed that the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is working well with its release of stunning images of space. These images not only prove how technology can make but also how far we want to see the future. Scary if it may look, but it may prove a long history of searching for the unknown. JWST not only plays a monumental role in discovery but also helps rewrite our legacy of space.

Who is James Webb?

James Webb facilitates the space agency from 1961 to 1968 with a vision of creating more space exploration. During his time, NASA not only developed spacecraft but also missions probe exploration to Mars and Venus. Webb also plays an important role in the hope of creating a large space telescope, reimagining that this would be NASA’s major project.

At the end of his term, NASA conducted its first moon landing in 1969. After his term, the work continues as he funded many universities and researchers. Construct many laboratories and provide support to science in different universities.

The JWST believe to be 3 feet tall and the size of a tennis court. Furthermore, because of its new feature prior to its predecessor Hubble Space Telescope, it’s more advance and high-resolution. The JWST was launched on December 25, last year, and entered the service of operation this July 12, 2022.

In addition, the JWST features detection of infrared light in high resolution. This means to discover things that can’t be seen in our own naked eye. This allows the telescope to capture different galaxies, planets, and stars that are yet to be discovered. The primary mission will be 5 years and a half but planned to make it in 10 years.

Stunning discoveries from space

Because of its feature detection of high-resolution infrared lights, NASA reveals JWST’s first four pictured images.

These are clouds of gasses and dust that formed when a red giant enters the end of their lives. In this picture it allows us to see bright red dust that’s been thrown off from its former star.

Zooming to 300 million light-years away, this image features four galaxies that are tight together and eventually will merge. It’s taken from 1000 pictured image that results in 150 million pixels.

Lastly, this image of thousand of galaxies is 4.6 billion light-years away from the Earth. The picture not only shows the space but it shows how the telescope help to see things we can’t.

In conclusion, the James Webb Space Telescope allows us to see and discover beyond what lies beneath space. It shows how breakthrough these discoveries were for us. James Webb Space Telescope will not just help us understand space but locate more signs of life. Because in this valley of unknown, something is waiting to be known.
