Here are 5 Enchanting Places in Vancouver, Canada

Gastown Vancouver Canada Tourist Spots

The Great White North—as they call it. I have always admired Canada. It has a reputation of being accepting, joyous and peaceful. Oftentimes, they welcome hundreds of thousands of immigrants and refugees. Besides that, there are also numerous wonderful and magical tourist destinations.

As The New York Times described it,

You’re gorgeous, baby, you’re sophisticated, you live well…Vancouver is Manhattan with mountains. It’s a liquid city, a tomorrow city, equal parts India, China, England, France and the Pacific Northwest. It’s the cool North American sibling.

However, because of the pandemic, we are restrained from leaving our pads. But we won’t let that stop us from satisfying our wanderlust. For now, we can look at these amazing destinations as a part of our bucket list once everything gets back to normal. For now, let’s immerse ourselves through them and wander through the internet.

Grouse Mountain offers an unmatched panorama in clear weather in both winter and summer even in the evenings when the city lights are on. Running from street level to the summit, a gondola operates daily. Dining, activities, and wildlife await mountaintop explorers year-round.

When the snow flies, Grouse Mountain is a winter wonderland. It is an opportunity to outdoor skate, snowshoe, ski, and snowboard. The ski runs are not particularly difficult, and Grouse Mountain is a fun family outing. Come summer, it is a hiker’s paradise with trails, including the famed Grouse Grind, also known as Mother Nature’s StairMaster.

Gastown

Gastown Vancouver Tourist Destinations

John Deighton was the man behind Gastown. It came into existence in 1867. He had a habit of launching into lengthy stories and soon acquired the nickname “Gassy Jack.” As a result, the vicinity became known as “Gassy’s Town” or “Gastown.”

Gastown is an area of restaurants, galleries, and shops set in carefully restored Victorian buildings. It is the oldest part of the city. Heritage structures, cobblestone streets, and iron lampposts give the district its distinctive atmosphere. Gastown is a short walk from Canada Place.

A statue of the proprietor now watches over the neighborhood in Maple Tree Square. Tourists stop for photos with Gassy Jack and also love to visit the nearby Steam Clock, which puffs steam-powered chimes every 15 minutes.

Adjacent to Downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park is a lush peninsula of huge trees. It is for nature lovers. Encircling the green space is the paved seawall path. It offers a wonderful place to explore on foot or by bicycle.

Inland, the park offers many things to do, and you can spend a full day exploring attractions like the totem poles at Brockton Point or the Vancouver Aquarium. Spectacular views are a standard throughout the park either back towards the city or out to the ocean.

In spring, the park’s gardens, and shrubs burst into a rainbow of beautiful colors. It is led by the cherry trees and closely followed by the rhododendrons.

Come summer, an outdoor pool operates right at the edge of the ocean. This 80-meter pool is heated and is a popular spot for families because of its gently sloped entry.

Laid-back and fun-loving is the Vancouver lifestyle, and it perfectly resembles the sandy shoreline of Kitsilano Beach. Here, locals hang out with friends or take a dip in the outdoor heated seawater swimming pool. In the summer, the wide beach here is popular with sunbathers.

Views from Kitsilano over the city center are wonderful. Other than the beach and oceanfront, the area has a number of cafés and walking trails, and a vibrant shopping strip lies a few blocks south on West Fourth Avenue. Wide-open spaces and the Vancouver Maritime Museum are in the east of Kitsilano is Vanier Park. Catch a small Aquabus to downtown Vancouver or Granville Island from the docks located here.

Little Mountain marks the highest point in Vancouver. It is the highest point of Queen Elizabeth Park. Its elevated position affords excellent views of the city center and the mountains to the north.

Things to do in the park include pitch-and-putt golf, tennis, disc golf, and visiting the extensive outdoor arboretum. If the day is grey and cool, escape to the tropical environment of the Bloedel Conservatory.

Queen Elizabeth Park has an excellent restaurant called Seasons in the Park. Walk the park in the mid-morning, then stop in for lunch while you soak up the amazing views of downtown Vancouver. The sunken Quarry Garden makes a lovely spot to stroll on a warm summer day.
