Money Heist: Korea is coming with its title finally revealed!
Our favorite Spanish thieves may have bid farewell, but their legacy lives on, as we’ll soon meet their Korean counterparts!
The countdown to Netflix’s Korean adaptation of its popular series, Money Heist finally begins as they announce its official title.
Called ‘Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area’, it follows a brilliant strategist and his gifted squad — made up of top-notch robbers – as they plan an unparalleled heist on the Korean Peninsula.
The show’s move from a Spanish to a Korean setting is both intriguing and exciting, adding fresh twists to a beloved storyline.
From Madrid to Seoul
First reported around June of last year, the Korean remake is a joint project of BH entertainment and Zium Content.
With the beginning of a new juggernaut, along with the title’s announcement is the release of a special teaser. Providing us a first-hand view of the set and visuals, the teaser eventually reveals the Korean crew’s symbolic heist mask.
MH-K: Meet the Crisis Negotitation Team
As part of the teaser, the Professor, team leader as well as each of the eight heist members was introduced.
Already unveiled last March, Actor-turned-Director Yoo Ji-Tae will be playing the Professor with Kim Yunjin from the American show Lost as the Team Leader.
For the city-name aliased bandits, Park Hae-soo will be playing as Berlin. Hae-soo is best known for his role in the popular Korean series, Squid Game.
Other members include Jung jong-seo as Tokyo, Lee Won-jong as Moscow, Kim Ji-Hun as Denver, Jang Yoon-ju as Nairobi, Lee Hyun-woo as Rio, Kim Ji-Hoon as Helsinki, and Lee Kyu-ho as Oslo.
The pressure for remakes to follow up on the original version’s success is definitely a challenge. Let’s see if Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area can deliver, but for now, the anticipation is certainly on!
The series is set to be released in 2022, only on Netflix.
