# 5 | Apostle – 78%

Released in October 2018, Apostle follows the story of a British man named Thomas Richardson. He travels to a remote Welsh island to rescue his sister Jennifer. A mysterious and evil cult has kidnapped and held her for ransom. Posing as a convert, he also follows the leader around who founded the cult with two other convicts. The period horror flick stars Dan Stevens, Lucy Boynton, Kristine Froseth, and Michael Sheen among others.

# 4 | Cargo – 88%

Based on a 2013 short film of the same name, Cargo follows the story of a father doing everything he can to protect his infant daughter and another child while a virus overtakes the world, turning people rabid within 48 hours. The zombie-infested drama also stars Martin Freeman, Simone Landers, Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter, and Caden Pistorious.

# 3 | 1922 – 91%

Based on Stephen King’s 2010 novella of the same name, 1922 follows the story of Wilf, a man who prides himself on the land that he owns. However, his wife Arlette wanted to move to the city and bring their son Henry with him. In an attempt of making them stay, he murdered his wife. Then, chaos ensued as the dead refused to be buried. The horror drama stars Thomas Jane, Dylan Schmid, and Molly Parker as the James family.

# 2 | Gerald’s Game – 91%

Based on another Stephen King novel, Gerald’s Game was published in 1992 and was long thought to be unfilmable. Mike Flanagan wrote the screenplay with Jeff Howard. Then, he also directed and edited the movie. It revolves around a married couple who arrive at an isolated house for a holiday.

Then, they try to spice things up as Gerald handcuffs Jessie to the bed. However, he dies of a sudden heart attack leaving her with little hope of rescue and trying to survive while battling her inner demons. The psychological horror also stars Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood as the Burlingame couple.

# 1 | Cam – 93%

Released in 2018, Cam follows a girl named Alice Ackerman who works as a camgirl on a website called FreeGirlsLive, broadcasting sexually promiscuous live shows from a studio she has set up in her home under the name, Lola_Lola. Obsessed with her rank on the site, she hopes to be number one.

However, a day comes when she seems to be logged out of her account and someone with the same face and mannerisms continues to go on live streams while using it. She tries her hardest to peel back the layers and uncover the truth. Madeline Brewer stars as the protagonist in this psychological horror flick.
