Just after the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, Samsung’s CEO DJ Koh finally gave light on their state-of-the-art foldable phone project.
Rumored to be the next Galaxy phone in the company’s flagship line, Mr. Koh confirms that the upcoming device can be used as both a tablet with multitasking capability and can be folded up to become a more portable phone.
The phone and tablet combo, dubbed as a ‘phablet,’ will be sporting a large screen that is said to extend beyond 6.5 inches due to its folding ability.
Mr. Koh stressed that the device will not be a “gimmick product” and confirmed that this will be released worldwide.
“When we deliver a foldable phone, it has to be really meaningful to our customer,” said Mr. Koh, further highlighting the company’s attention to user experience and feedback. “If the user experience is not up to my standard, I don’t want to deliver those kinds of products.”
Not much information has been released for the Galaxy X, but Mr. Koh announced last month that the phablet device is set to hit the market this year. However, recent reports predict that the device might be released in early 2019.
