When we hear the word, “library”, a boring, dark place with dusty books often come to our minds. But not the latest library in Sorsogon State College is very far from that imagery. Even the celebrity fashionista Heart Evangelista is flexing this library on her Instagram account. Let’s take a quick peek!
This library has similarities with those famous international ones
The Pinay actress and socialite proudly showed off online the multi-level library of Sorsogon State College. In her post, you can see that the two-level library features a circular layout. There’s a lot of natural light coming from what appears to be a glass dome. In addition to that, students can focus on their studies quite well since it has enough desk space and proper ventilation.
On her caption, Heart said “What a sight!”, pertaining to the establishment.
New York-based Filipino designer Rafe Totengco said it reminded him of the stunning library in Stockholm, Sweden. Meanwhile, broadcast journalist Karen Davila said that the inspiration might possibly come from the Library of Congress in Washington DC. Also, several followers of the style icon/actress made a comparison of how this library resembles the popular Starfish Library in South Korea.
Finally, the designer of this building John Olinad Esller replied to Heart’s post. He was grateful to her and her husband Chiz Escudero for appreciating his design and concepts. He added, “As a designer, it’s an honor po to know that more people are having a good feedback to the designs.”
Esller mentioned that he followed CHED’s guidelines to cater to more students and readers for this concept. “It is just one of the requirements to make SSC fully a State University, proud to be the designer, good to see my drawings come to life, salamat at may mga nakakaappreciate. This is for my Alma Mater.”
Heart made a note on her Instagram that this library in Sorsogon State College is a dream come true for Filipino students.
