Black Adam is on a Rampage! — Get to know the anti-hero in its first trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures revealed the first official trailer for their upcoming movie, Black Adam.

The newest character in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) will be played by box office superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Who’s Black Adam?

“You can be the destroyer of this world or you can be its savior.”

Black Adam is an anti-hero spin-off version of Shazam. He was supposed to debut in the first Shazam movie but the producers are worried about cramming two major DCEU characters in one movie.

He was released from his tomb after 5000 years. Known as Teth-Adam when he was a mortal and a slave in ancient Egypt. He was blessed with godlike powers finding his path in the modern world.

Black Adam’s powers

Similar to Shazam, Black Adam was the successor of the wizard Shazam. Saying the word “Shazam” grants him powers. The only difference is that Shazam has the power of six Greek Gods while he has six Egyptian Gods. Here is his list of powers from Egyptian Gods.

Shu – Immortality, enhanced durability, and limitless stamina.

Mehen – Courage, willpower.

Horus – Flight, speed.

Aten – Lightning bolt

Amon- Strength

Justice Society of America

The trailer also introduced the Justice Society of America (JSA). They are similar to Justice League but with a different roster.

Dr. Fate seems to be the leader of this group similar to the comics. He has a wide range of powers but it’s mainly magic, telepathy, and flight.

JSA also includes Hawkman in their team. He said “heroes don’t kill people” to which Black Adam responded with “well, I do.” Hawkman has access to the fictional material called “Nth metal” that negates gravity. This allows him to fly.

Atom Smasher and Cyclone are the youngsters of the team. Atom Smasher has enhanced strength and can grow in size while Cyclone can manipulate wind.

Black Adam is expected to appear again in “Shazam: Fury of Gods” to fight his archnemesis.

“Black Adam” will arrive in theaters on October 21.
