A new Harry Potter game is arriving on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC!

Hogwarts

Potterheads will definitely get excited with this news: An open-world adventure in Hogwarts Legacy is coming soon! Yes, you heard that right. You can virtually go to Hogwarts in the 1800s on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X, and in personal computers.

Warner Brothers partners with Avalance in this game’s development

This announcement from Warner Brothers confirmed the rumors and the huge leak two years ago. Portkey Games by Warner Bros. is currently overseeing the game until publishing.  The said company formed this game development team last 2017 to lead new game entries in the Harry Potter franchise. Avalance also has an involvement with the creation of this game as said by a blog post on Sony’s website.

It explains, “The Portkey Games label gave us a unique opportunity to return to Hogwarts during a different era. We are always asking ourselves how we can draw from the rich library of characters, creatures, and themes – and imagine how those details would influence the school more than a century before Harry Potter’s arrival,” writes Avalanche’s story head Adrian Ropp. “Who was the headmaster? What challenges did students face? What influenced their society before Tom Riddle, before Newt Scamander? I like to say that what we are giving fans is something familiar in a way they have never seen.”

Like living in Hogwarts in ancient times

The gameplay’s story revolves  around the Hogwarts in the 1800s, where they will play a student “who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart.” According to the game’s official website, players will “discover the feeling of living at Hogwarts as you make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world.” They will encounter good-versus-evil choices along the way as they resolve Hogwarts Legacy’s central conflict.

Moreover, the release says players will “grow their magical abilities by mastering spells, brewing potions and taming fantastic beasts,” adding that the game will include familiar locations like the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.

There’s no specific launch date was given in Wednesday’s announcement so we’ll just have to wait a bit more.
